Winter Wonderland

15 February 2010

Ok, today wasn't actually a "Winter Wonderland", but it did snow quite a lot this morning. Most of it melted as soon as it touched the ground, and the little bit that did settle on the roof made a good subject for todays photo...

Day 46 -

During the big freeze of December and January I took a lot of snowy photographs and never got around to blogging them. The snow today provided the perfect introduction:

Happy Valentines Day!

14 February 2010

If you are looking for some tales of love, head over to to Boho Weddings and Events blog to read some romantic proposal stories. One of my photographs from Jenny and Ray's e-session is featured.

Here's a Valentines inspired photo for my 365 project:

Day 45-

And a quick catch up with the rest of my photos (i've clearly been a bad blogger as I have a 11 photos to put on here.. tut tut!)

Day 44 - Blue sky like this is worthy of a photo as it is rare to see it at the moment!

Day 43 - An early Valentines photo.

Day 42 - I love getting emails, but there is nothing nicer than getting a handwritten letter in the post.

Day 41 - Scarborough lighthouse.

Day 40 - A visit to the little village of Thornton Le Dale is like stepping back in time, if it wasn't for the modern cars in this photograph you'd never know when it was taken.

Day 39 - I never tire of Whitby. We used to visit here on holiday when I was younger, now I live nearby - i'm very lucky!

Day 38 - The pretty stitching on a pincushion.

Day 37 - I noticed the horse on the right peering out of the barn as I walked past, so I went to take a photo and the other two came out to say hello.

Day 36 - A very lazy night in watching Greys Anatomy and Silent Witness.

Day 35 - Driving home from Essex I stopped at a service station on the A1 to have a sandwich and a drink. Ordinarily it's not the most picturesque scene, but by altering the focus you get a whole different take on it.

Day 34 - And last, but not least, another abstract pattern.

Daily

2 February 2010

Photo a day. Taking one photo every day throughout the year. It sounds easy enough, doesn't it? Some days I am lacking inspiration. Other days I completely forget that I need to take my photo, and realise as I am climbing into bed. Depending on how you look at things, this is either a downside to the project, or, as I see it, an upside. It's a challenge. The days when I am struggling for a photo are normally the days when I go scouting around the kitchen cupboards, in the bathroom, in my make up bag, searching for something colourful to be that days subject. This project certainly has me thinking outside the box!

Rainy day

11 January 2010

I found a little bit of colour in our garden for day 11 of my 365:2010 project. The snow is melting because of the rain today, and all of the plants and trees are covered with drops of water - perfect for my photo!

2010

10 January 2010

Belated Happy New Year! and a Happy New Decade! It doesn't seem that long ago since we eagerly awaited the new Millenium and wondered what would happen once the date moved forward from 1999 to 2000. But here we are, ten years later! It's scary how time flies!

This year my main New Years Resolution is to take a photo every day throughout the year - my 365:2010 project. I'm not much of a writer so i've never kept a diary, but this year i'm going to keep a visual diary of my year. I'll be posting my daily photos on here, and here are the first ten photos:

1st January '10
Today was spent travelling from Pickering to Goathland by steam train on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. When we got to Goathland (home of the television show Heartbeat) it had been snowing heavily which made for a lovely photo of the steam train with the snow covered station.

2nd January '10
These bright beach huts look very summery, but they were taken on a cold, wet and very windy day in Scarborough.

3rd January '10
Snow covered heather in our garden.

4th January '10
A very intense sunset.

5th January '10
Another New Years Resolution is to learn how to sew. I got a lovely sewing kit for Christmas, this is the before photo.

6th January '10
And this is the after photo. The first bag that I have ever made.

7th January '10
The roads were very icy, and so the furthest I ventured today was a walk down the lane near our house. This is the view across the snow covered fields.

8th January '10
It's snowing... again!

9th January '10
This lovely robin is a regular in our garden, especially since we started putting extra bird food out because of the snow.

10th January '10
Another snowy scene. Everywhere was very black and white today.
